Choosing the right equipment

The lens is the most important part of your goggles. Start with the sun filter category (0–3), which tells you how much light the lens lets through and what weather it suits. A higher number means less light transmission. Goggles with photochromic lenses, such as the R2 Glacier, darken or lighten automatically as the light changes.

Lenses also come with different curvatures. An increasing number of goggles use spherical lenses to reduce image distortion. You will also find flatter lenses, which can be more prone to distorting the view.

Lens colour affects much more than appearance. Orange, yellow, pink and red lenses enhance contrast and absorb some blue light, helping you pick out details on the slopes. Green, blue and purple lenses filter the colour spectrum more evenly for a more natural view. Darker tints are more comfortable in bright sunshine.

Pay attention to the size and shape of the goggles too, so they fit your face properly and work well with your helmet.
