The Kryptotal-R is a dedicated rear tyre — and Continental means it. The tread pattern, knob shape, and compound hardness are all tuned around what a rear wheel does most: brake, transfer power, and hold a line through corners. The centre tread rolls efficiently even on harder-packed surfaces, while the pronounced shoulder knobs bite firmly when the bike is leant over on loose or soft ground. The soft Black Chili compound adds traction precisely where it matters most — on wet, rooty, or loose terrain.

The Black Chili Soft compound is Continental's softer formulation, focused on maximum traction and control. It excels on wet, loose, or technical ground yet remains usable on firm, packed surfaces without feeling sluggish. The tread pairs a more open centre for smooth rolling with aggressive shoulder knobs that dig in when the tyre leans over, helping maintain the line through corners. The pattern also sheds mud effectively, so the tread keeps clearing in messy conditions rather than clogging up.

The casing is three-ply under the tread and two-ply at the sidewalls, with additional cross-woven reinforcement in the sidewall to help resist cuts and slashes. The Apex bead reinforcement reduces the risk of damage where the tyre seats against the rim and helps absorb impacts on hard landings. A Kevlar bead keeps overall weight down and makes fitting more straightforward. The casing is Tubeless Ready — the tyre holds air without an inner tube once sealant is added.
